Open Studio Night - 30th January 2014

On Thursday July 18 we had our second OPEN STUDIO NIGHT at the new BCAC studio, with the usual bar and a Collaborative Painting project.The theme this time: 'IMAGINARY FISH'. Bruce wrote down a selection of descriptive words, such as Angry - In Love - Greedy - Jealous - Happy - Married - Divorced, etc.
On one large canvas the group were invited to create 'imaginary fish' that expressed one of these words or, any descriptive word of their choice. Bruce also invited the group to get the fish to somehow relate to, or interact with one another. Guests drew the fishes in black Chinese ink with soft chinese brushes. They then colored the entire canvas using chalk pastels. |

As always on these nights, the group had a blast and the painting the emerged was expressive, powerful and funny. A regular BCAC visitor Ed Philips surrendered himself the mercies of group by laying on a table whilst they covered an otherwise perfectly pristine TShirt with more bizzarre fish.

This particular open-studio night was led by resident artist Nina Packer. Click to enlarge the photos from this night, great fun was had by all and some fantastic art work came into being, through the input of a great crowd of people exploring and experimenting with this collaborative piece.
